Happy New Year to everyone.
I am Yasuo Kiryu, President of EBSS.
Last year marked four years since COVID-19 was first confirmed in Japan in 2020.
During this time, work environments based on the ‘New Lifestyle’ advocated by the government have gradually spread, and ‘hybrid work’ combining office and remote work has become widespread as part of ‘work style reform.’
However, it is difficult to properly manage the balance between office and remote work, and there are challenges such as communication becoming thinner as remote work increases.
Also, on the technical side, the use of generative AI has advanced significantly.
While traditional AI automates predetermined tasks, generative AI leverages patterns and relationships learned from data to generate new content across a wide range of formats including text, images, video, and audio.
While the usage rate in Japan still appears to be lower compared to overseas, we have found that actually using it helps reduce workload and improve operations.
Along with deep learning, generative AI will continue to develop further. Is your company utilizing it?
In such circumstances, we are entering 2025, when the ‘2025 Cliff’ – a term first used in the ‘DX Report’ published by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry in 2018 – is becoming reality.
With the declining labor force including IT professionals, in addition to organizing existing IT systems and promoting DX (Digital Transformation), ‘work style reform’ and ‘business process improvement’ are necessary.
At EBSS, we hold a ‘Consulting Training Camp’ twice a year.
In this camp, over a dozen employees gather internally for training aimed at improving consultant skills, gaining new insights, and promoting interaction among participants.
Recently, we have been covering generative AI as one of the topics.
It not only improves consultant skills but also helps revitalize communication that tends to become thin, so we will continue to implement it this fiscal year.
Additionally, as part of promoting IT tool utilization in ‘work style reform,’ an application development approach called ‘citizen development’ is spreading.
We have been supporting our customers with company-wide deployment planning and creating educational content.
As these IT tools evolve daily, we constantly keep up with the latest information, and this fiscal year we will continue initiatives that lead to ‘work style reform’ and ‘business process improvement’ both within EBSS and for our customers.
Finally, this year as well, we will organically connect our six consulting models – strategy, business, IT, digital, ERP, and project management – while flexibly responding to changes in the business environment and providing consulting support incorporating the latest tools and technologies.
